G80 Sliding Choke Hook 

The closed die forged G80 sliding choke hook for wire rope. Consistent dimensions are produced using closed die forging. When combined with quench and tempering, a closed die-forged bow's greater cross-section increases strength and ductility. It has been demonstrated that using spare parts with close tolerance holes and superior surface finishes improves fatigue life. They are both load and fatigue rated. It has been established that tight pin-to-hole tolerance is essential for optimum fatigue life.

Product Description

    G80 sliding choke hook for wire rope is closed die forged. Closed die forging produces consistent dimensions. A closed die-forged bow allows for an increased cross-section that, when coupled with quench and tempering, enhances strength and ductility. Close tolerance holes and spare parts with good surface finishes are provided and are proven to provide improved fatigue life in actual use. They are fatigue rated as well as load rated. Close pin-to-hole tolerance has been proven to be critical for good fatigue life.

Care in Use

  1. For hooks used in frequent load cycles or pulsating loads, the hook and threads should periodically be inspected by Magnetic Particle or Dye Penetrant.
  2. Never use a hook if its throat opening has been increased, its tip has been bent more than 10 degrees out of a plane from the hook body, or is in any other way distorted or bent. Note: A safety catch will not work properly on a hook with a bent or worn tip.
  3. Never use a hook that is worn beyond a recommended maximum of 8%.
  4. Remove from service any hook with a crack, nick, or gouge. Hooks with cracks, nicks, or gouges shall be repaired by carefully grinding lengthwise, following the contour of the hook, provided that the reduced dimension is within the 8% wear limit
  5. Never repair, alter, rework, or reshape a hook by welding, heating, burning, or bending.
  6. Never side load, back load, or tip load a hook.
  7. Always make sure the hook supports the load. The catch must never support the load.
